375 Jahre Sietas Werft
Germany’s oldest shipyard can look back on 375 years of
eventful shipbuilding history during which the fi rm has
successfully overcome politically and economically diffi cult
times. Sietas is confronting current challenges with new
concepts for securing the long-term continuance of the yard.

160 years of Fassmer
By now, the fifth generation already of the family-run company Fr. Fassmer GmbH & Co. KG, based in Berne near Bremen, has successfully been engaged in building ships. Within 160 years of its history, the long-established German enterprise has internationally gained an excellent reputation in the development and construction of innovative special purpose ships and lifeboats.

125 years Shipbuilding and Ocean Industries Association (VSM)
For 125 years the German Shipbuilding and Ocean Industries Association has represented the interests of the German maritime industry, the shipyards and their marine equipment suppliers. Since its foundation in 1884 the association has by manifold activities given sustainable direction to the developments in German shipbuilding and ships’ technologies.


60 years of shipbuilding in Germany
60 years ago Germany was characterised by restarting. German shipbuilding until then being among forbidden industries rapidly reached its position on the international market owing to first class ship designs and technologies. In April 1949 “Schiff&Hafen” was founded on the basis of the two preceding magazines of 1900 “Schiffbau” (shipbuilding)  and “Werft, Reederei und Hafen”(shipyard, shipping company and port) and has accompanied the impressive development from the begin.

25 years of GMT
For 25 years the Gesellschaft für Maritime Technik e.V. (GMT) has successfully been representing the interests of German companies and research institutes for ocean technologies. As interface between economy, research and practice the main tasks of GMT are initiation, promotion and co-ordination of national and international research and development projects.
Members of the GMT are companies, institutes, research facilities and organisations from industrial sectors like offshore technology, renewable energy, maritime environmental technology, oceanography, underwater technology, coastal and hydraulic engineering, aqua culture, polar technology as well as maritime traffic control and monitoring technology.

50 years of Motorenwerke Bremerhaven
MWB, three letters - one concept. During the last five decades, the name of the engine company in Bremerhaven has become a synonym for an enterprise that is able to demonstrate unparalleled experience in several specialist areas simultaneously.

100 years of ABEKING & RASMUSSEN
During the course of its 100-year existence, the Lemwerder shipyard has undergone an extremely successful evolution from building sailing ships to manufacturing highly-specialised mega yachts, governmental vessels and naval ships.

25 years of NSB - a shipping company on the route to success
Halfway through 2007, the Niederelbe Schiffahrtsgesellschaft (NSB, Niederelbe shipping company) in Buxtehude had three reasons for celebrating within a short timeframe: firstly in this year, the company celebrated its 25th anniversary since being founded. Secondly, NSB moved into a new company building and thirdly, it assumed the management for its hundredth ship.

The 16th March 2007 marked the 140th anniversary of the foundation of Germanischer Lloyd. An occasion to take a retrospective look at the most important events in its history and to trace back how this successful development took place.
